It Is What Lies Beneath That Counts

We have all seen block paved driveways that have sunk, dipped, or developed "tramlines" where car tyres run. This is almost always caused by poor preparation of the ground underneath.

As third-generation tradesmen, we do not cut corners on the hidden work. The most important part of your new driveway is the sub-base.

• We excavate the ground to the correct depth.

• We install a high-quality geo-textile membrane to stop weeds coming up and prevent the sub-base from sinking into the soil.

• We lay a thick layer of Type 1 MOT (crushed stone) and compact it thoroughly with heavy machinery.

• We lay the blocks on a bed of sharp sand, not soft building sand, to ensure a solid fix.

This rigorous preparation ensures that when we park our pink vans on your driveway, it stays perfectly level. And it will stay level when you park your car on it for years to come.

Styles and Patterns

Block paving comes in a huge variety of styles. We can help you choose the right one to complement your home.

• Standard Blocks: Clean, uniform lines usually laid in a 45 or 90-degree herringbone pattern for maximum strength.

• Tegula / Tumbled Blocks: These have worn, distressed edges to give an aged, antique appearance. They look fantastic on older properties or rural homes.

• Permeable Blocks: Specifically designed with larger gaps to aid drainage, perfect for areas with strict planning rules on surface water.
